PROPOSED SOUTH FORK AMERICAN RIVER
BRIDGE PROJECT
WHAT IS BEING PROPOSED
The Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to rehabilitate or replace the South Fork American River Bridge on State Route 49 in El Dorado County to meet current seismic standards. The project will incorporate other upgrades as appropriate, such as standard shoulders and lanes, inclusion of bicycle and pedestrian lanes, and more. Alternatives that widen or replace the bridge include construction work on the adjacent roadway to accommodate alignment shifts and conform back to the existing road.
